Capturing downloaded searches for re-use

There are two needs to address:

1 – conversion of downloaded materials from commercial services into searchable records.

2 – capturing the information content of various reports published in limited quantities.

For (1) above I suggest we purchase bibliolink and procite which enable searches to be composed before connecting and then allow the downloaded materials to be searched with the same commands as the commercial service uses.

Advantages: save connect time/money – no additional learning for those familiar searching these commercial services – improving on-line search skills for info staff (something mentioned during retreat)

Disadvantages: single-user system, file locking on network, not integrated into existing DB.
