BROOKE’S VISIT
Senator Brooke had great praise for the  housing authority when he came. According to the senator, it was much better than the last time he was here.  A lot of attention was given to cleaning the playground and parking lots just before he came.  Too bad he can’t come more often.

8th FLOOR TENANTS
Tenants of the eighth floor of the high-rise buildings met to discuss their mutual problems with the leaky roofs.  They formed an eighth floor tenant association and elected Carmen Piniero of 105 division street to head the group.

Juan Gerena has inspected the apartments and is making a report to Mr. Aslan, as  director.  The group is keeping after the housing authority to pay for the curtains.
The housing authority has received offers to do the work from several roping companies and is expected to pick contractor at their next board meeting on April 20, 1972

RENT PAYMENT
The housing authority has not made any definite decision yet about collecting rents by check or money order.  It is still possible they will decide to do it.  Many tenants have been upset about it.  Let them know you want the rent collection to stay the way it is.

NEW HEALTH CENTER
The new health center in 103 – 105 division St will be open the first week of may.  Watch for the official announcement; there will be an open house

SUMMER EMPLOYMENT FOR TEENS
The Brightwood social service program at the corner of Plainfield and Ormsby street second floor is taking applications from area teens for summer work and not making any promises. It would be good to go there if interested.

SUMMER BASEBALL AND BASKETBALL FOR BOYS
Sign up now for summer leagues.  You must have your birth certificate.  See Paul Anderson of the Brightwood social service program or Simon and Jose in Riverview.

RIVERVIEW BACKETBALL TEAM 72 CHAMPS
Reviews sixteen to eighteen year old basketball team organize by captain Frank Moynihan of the security program and coached by Wilbur Daniels one of the city championship this year.  The team is sponsored by Mr. Ramon Rivera, proprietor of the Brightwood Market.  A trophy is to be given to the team as well as a most valuable player award to James Gotzendanner.

Team captain is .  Other players are David Smith, Thomas Daniels, James Gotzendanner, CC Sanders, Tommy Wibon, Leon Garner and Tom Garner.  Nice work champs.
